Gel coat is a durable, polyester material with colors added for appearance. Bathtubs, boats, and RV’s use this. It is a non-porous surface, with good corrosion resistance. It is commonly sprayed on a mold and allowed to "cure,” then is backed with vinyl ester resin along with fiberglass to add strength.
